Fireworks safety tips

When using fireworks, make sure you protect yourself and others with these fireworks safety tips:

  • Purchase your fireworks from a reliable source.
  • Always read and follow labelled directions.
  • Only use fireworks outdoors.
  • Always have a water source such as a garden hose or bucket handy.
  • Never experiment with or make your own fireworks.

  • Never give fireworks to small children and always have an adult present.
  • Dispose of fireworks properly by soaking them in water and then disposing of them in a trash can.
  • Never throw or point fireworks at other people.
  • Never carry fireworks in your pocket.
  • Never shoot fireworks in metal or glass containers.
  • The shooter should always wear eye protection and never have any part of their body over the firework.
